Details

What is Cilest?

Cilest is a combined contraceptive pill for women who want to prevent pregnancy and regulate their menstrual cycle. It works by preventing ovulation and thickening the cervical mucus to prevent sperm from entering the uterus. It contains both forms of synthetic progesterone and oestrogen – Ethinylestradiol and Norgestimate. In addition to preventing pregnancy, Cilest is prescribed for the treatment of acne and endometriosis.

How to take Cilest?

Cilest should be taken orally with water once a day, with or without food, at around the same time each day. You should start by taking the pill which has the correct day of the week marked on it. Each tablet contains 250 micrograms of Norgestimate and 35 micrograms of Ethinylestradiol.

If you’ve been prescribed Cilest for the first time, you should begin your first course by taking the first tablet from the blister pack on the first day of your period – this will provide immediate protection from pregnancy. If you are starting Cilest later in your cycle, you will need to use a barrier method, such as condoms, for the first 7 days to be protected.

Precautions with Cilest?

Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you have any allergies you’re aware of, as well as current or previous health conditions, and if you are taking any prescription or non-prescription or herbal medications, as this medication may contain inactive ingredients which may have an adverse effect.

You should discuss the following with your doctor before taking Cilest:

  • If you are obese
  • Are a heavy smoker or a smoker over the age of 35
  • Have a family history of stroke or heart disease
  • Suffer from migraines
  • Have high cholesterol or hypertension
  • Have heart problems
  • Are restricted to lying or sitting for long periods, due to injury or illness
  • Have diabetes and your condition is not under control

Cilest does not provide protection from sexually-transmitted diseases, so a barrier method should be used in conjunction with this medication if you are at risk of sexually-transmitted infections.

Side effects of Cilest?

The possible side effects of taking Cilest include:

  • Migraines and headaches
  • Fluid retention
  • Mood swings
  • Depression
  • Insomnia and feeling tired
  • Constipation
  • Acne
  • Tender or painful breasts
  • Urinary tract infections, including cystitis and thrush
  • Muscle pain or spasms
  • Weight gain

The most common side effects of taking Cilest are headaches, painful periods and stomach problems, including nausea and vomiting. This medication also typically causes irregularities and changes in your menstrual cycle for the first three months while your body adjusts to the pill.

If you experience any severe side effects, you should seek medical attention immediately.

How do I buy Cilest online?

To legally and safely purchase Cilest, you need a prescription from a General Medical Council (GMC) registered doctor. Our online service allows you to do this quickly and easily, from the comfort of your own home by submitting a completed consultation form to one of our GMC doctors.

Once you’ve chosen your medication and submitted the relevant information, one of our doctors will review the request and, if it is deemed appropriate for you, accepted. Your prescription will then be issues and dispensed by our UK-based pharmacy with full tracking to your chosen address. Medicines are typically dispatched within 24 hours of the order being received.
