Dermol 200 Shower Emollient – 200ml

Dermol 200 Shower is an emollient and antimicrobial treatment which can be used during or after showers as a way of protecting your skin from conditions such as eczema and dermatitis. The ingredients in this product can trap moisture to preserve the normal protective function of the skin and fight off any bacteria present which can make your dry skin condition worse. Suitable for both adults and children to use, Dermol 200 Shower functions as either a soap substitute (in place of ordinary soap or shower gel) or as a leave-on application which you apply to affected areas of skin after showering.

Dermol 200 Shower Emollient

Dermol 200 Shower Emollient can be used by people with dry and itchy skin conditions as part of their normal showering routine. It contains a treatment which keeps skin moisturised and eliminates any bacteria which is capable of causing skin problems. Dermol 200 is particularly effective against eczema and dermatitis.

How does Dermol 200 Shower work?

Dermol 200 contains antimicrobials and emollients. The antimicrobials in this treatment are called benzalkonium chloride and chlorhexidine dihydrochloride. These can be used to prevent infection occurring as a result of scratching itchy skin and they also combat bacteria that may be present on this skin which can make eczema symptoms worse.

The emollients contained in Dermol 200 include liquid paraffin and isopropyl myristate. These are included to help soften, moisturise and protect your skin. They do so by trapping moisture within the skin and restoring your skin’s normal protective function. The emollients can also protect your skin from drying and irritant effects that can occur due to washing and bathing or from the use of soaps, foaming additives and fragrances used in ordinary skin cleansing products.

Am I ok to use Dermol 200 Shower?

Dermol 200 can be used by adults and children when they shower as a way of protecting their skin from conditions such as eczema or dermatitis. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should also be fine using this product.

Like with any other medicinal treatment, it is worth checking before using this product for the first time that it doesn’t contain any ingredients you are allergic to. Generally, you are unlikely to encounter any problems when using Dermol 200 as long as you take care while using the product.

If you’re using Dermol 200 as a leave-on application, it is generally a good idea for patients with very sensitive skin to start any new treatment on a small test area first, in case any side effect occurs. Thereafter, treatments can be applied more generously. Avoid getting this treatment in the eyes, especially when using it on the face. This treatment can make your shower tray (or bath surface) slippery, so be careful to avoid slipping over when getting into and out of your shower. After use, clean out the shower tray with a suitable detergent to remove any remaining greasiness (wearing protective gloves in order to avoid irritating your hands).

How do I use Dermol 200 Shower?

To get the maximum benefit from this treatment, it’s recommended that you use it on a regular basis and whenever you shower. The exact guidelines depend on how exactly you plan to use this product, but the appropriate instructions are the same for both adults and children. You can always check the product’s patient information leaflet if you are ever unsure about any of the steps.

You can use Dermol 200 as a soap substitute (using it to wash instead of ordinary soap or shower gel). Bear in mind that it will not foam or lather like ordinary cosmetic products. After washing or showering with this product, pat the skin dry with a soft towel and avoid rubbing.

If you are using Dermol 200 as a leave-on application (for instance, after showering), then you should apply the treatment specifically to the areas of skin that are affected by your condition. Gently smooth the treatment into the skin and, if necessary, allow time for any excess to soak in. Avoid rubbing the skin vigorously while applying Dermol 200. Reapply the treatment as often as required.

If you are using more than one treatment for the same areas of skin, then try to avoid mixing Dermol with other treatments. A way to achieve this is to apply the treatments alternately, leaving sufficient time for the previous application to soak in.

Can Dermol 200 Shower cause side effects?

Like with any other medicinal product, Dermol 200 Shower has the potential to cause side effects, but they are not common so you are unlikely to notice any. If you do experience any side effects from using this product, they are worth reporting to your doctor, nurse or local pharmacist. If you experience any serious side effect symptoms (such as a rash or swelling) or your existing skin condition becomes worse, then stop using this medication and go to a doctor or hospital emergency department right away.
