What is Nipatra and what does it do?

Nipatra is a treatment used to help with erectile dysfunction, often referred to as impotence. The active ingredient in Nipatra is sildenafil which belongs to a group of medicines called PDE5 inhibitors.

Nipatra works by increasing the blood supply to the penis. Nipatra is provided in the form of chewable tablets, and may offer a slightly shorter onset of action compared to Viagra tablets, which are swallowed whole. Please note, Nipatra requires sexual stimulation to work.

When is Nipatra prescribed?

Nipatra may be prescribed to help men suffering from erectile dysfunction. It is a common condition that is also known as impotence. It is more common in men over the age of 50, but can also affect men of younger age.

Before requesting a prescription for Nipatra you should consider lifestyle changes in order to reduce your symptoms. Losing weight if you are overweight and quitting smoking may help you regain an erection without prescribed medicines.

Is Nipatra suitable for my condition?

If you are an adult man experiencing erection problems, Nipatra may be prescribed by our doctors. The information you supply through the medical questionnaire will be assessed by our doctors to ensure Nipatra is safe and suitable for you to use.

Note, certain medicines and conditions may affect the suitability of Nipatra.
This treatment may not be safe and suitable for you if any of the below applies to you:

  • If you are allergic to sildenafil or any of the ingredients listed in the patient information leaflet.
  • If you are taking any medicines containing nitrates for the treatment of angina pectoris (“chest pain”).
  • If you are taking any medicines known as nitric oxide donors, such as amyl nitrite (“poppers”).
  • If you have severe heart or liver problems or if you have recently had a stroke or heart attack.
  • If you currently have a stomach ulcer or any bleeding problems, such as haemophilia.

Please note, the above is not a complete list of medicines and conditions. Consult your GP before use if you have a medical condition that is not listed in the patient information leaflet.

Does Nipatra cause any side effects?

Yes, Nipatra may cause side effects, just like all medicines. However, the susceptibility to side effects varies from person to person, and not everyone will experience them.

It is vital that you read the patient information leaflet before use and familiarise yourself with the section about side effects. This will help you understand when you may need to seek medical advice and how to recognise any allergic reactions.

Common side effects associated with taking Nipatra include, but are not limited to:

  • Headache.
  • Facial flushing.
  • Indigestion.
  • Effects on your vision, such as light sensitivity, blurred vision or reduced sharpness of vision.
  • Stuffy nose.

Can I reduce the risk of getting side effects?

Yes, the risk of side effects can be reduced by letting our doctors know about any other medicines you take. Also let them know about any medical condition you may have. You can pass this information on by including it in the medical questionnaire when you request your prescription.
