Proceed and Choose Treatment

What is Spedra and what does it do?

Spedra is a medicine used in adult men to help aid an erection. Spedra tablets are taken 15 - 30 minutes before sexual activity and is available in doses of 50mg, 100mg and 200mg.

Spedra contains the active ingredient avanafil, and works by increasing blood flow to the penis. Please note, this treatment does not cause an erection, but aids erection in combination with sexual stimulation.

When is Spedra prescribed?

Spedra tablets may be prescribed to adult men suffering from erectile dysfunction. Erectile dysfunction, commonly referred to as impotence, is a common condition which affects up to half of all men aged 40 to 70 at some point in their lives.

Before requesting a prescription for Spedra, we recommend that you consider lifestyle changes in order to reduce your symptoms. Losing weight if you are overweight and quitting smoking may help you regain an erection without prescribed medicines.

Is Spedra suitable for my condition?

The suitability of this treatment will be assessed by our doctors when you request your prescription. Spedra is likely to be suitable as long as the below does not apply to you. Do not take Spedra tablets if you:

  • Are allergic or sensitive to avanafil or any other ingredients listed in the patient information leaflet.
  • Are taking nitrate medicines for chest pain (angina), such as amyl nitrite or glyceryl trinitrate.
  • Are taking medicines for HIV or AIDS, such as ritonavir, indinavir, saquinavir, nelfinavir or atazanavir.
  • Are taking any medicines for fungal infections, such as ketoconazole or saquinavir.
  • Have severe heart problems or have previously had a heart attack or stroke.
  • Have serious liver or kidney problems.
  • Are taking riociguat to treat high blood pressure in the lungs (pulmonary arterial hypertension).

Please note, the above is not a complete list. Always consult your own GP before ordering this medicine if you have any questions or are unsure of the suitability of this treatment.
