Proceed and Choose Treatment

What is Tadalafil and what does it do?

Tadalafil is a medicine used to help with erectile dysfunction in adult men. Erectile dysfunction, also referred to as impotence, is a condition that affects the ability to get and maintain an erection. It is a common condition that affects around half of all men aged between 40 and 70.

Tadalafil belongs to a group of medicines known as PDE5 inhibitors. It helps the user regain erection by increasing the blood supply to the penis. Note, to work, Tadalafil requires sexual stimulation.

What is the difference between Tadalafil and Cialis?

Tadalafil is the active ingredient in Cialis. It is now available as a generic and unbranded tablet.

Tadalafil and Cialis are medically the same, but Tadalafil is available at a lower cost.

Generic medicines contain the same active ingredient and are as effective and medically equivalent to the branded products but they are available for a lower price. Generic manufacturers have to demonstrate that their products are medically identical to the branded medication, offering the same quality, stability, effectiveness and strength.

When is Tadalafil prescribed?

Tadalafil may be prescribed to treat adult men who are experiencing erectile dysfunction. It may also be prescribed as a treatment for benign prostatic hyperplasia, a condition in which the size of the prostate gland increases with age.

Tadalafil works by inhibiting the effect of the enzyme phosphodiesterase type 5. This enables increased blood to flow to the erectile tissue. This effect, when combined with sexual stimulation helps the user get an erect penis suitable for intercourse or other sexual activity.

Before requesting a prescription for Tadalafil lifestyle changes should be considered in order to reduce your symptoms. Quitting smoking, and losing weight if you are overweight may help you to regain an erection without taking prescribed medicine.

Is Tadalafil suitable for my condition?

The suitability of this treatment will be assessed by our doctors when you request your prescription. Tadalafil is likely to be suitable as long as the below does not apply to you. Do not take Tadalafil if you:

  • Are allergic to Tadalafil or any of the ingredients listed in the patient information leaflet.
  • Are taking organic nitrate or nitric oxide donors, such as amyl nitrite which is used to treat angina pectoris (“chest pain”).
  • Have a serious heart disease or have recently had a heart attack or stroke.
  • Have low blood pressure or uncontrolled high blood pressure.
  • Are taking riociguat for the treatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension.

Please note, the above is not a complete list of medicines and conditions that can interact with Tadalafil. Always include information about any medicine och medical condition you may have when filling in the medical questionnaire.

What is the recommended dosage of Tadalafil?

You should follow the doctor’s instructions on how to take this medicine. The doses outlined below are for your reference only. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. The consumption of alcohol while taking Tadalafil may reduce the effectiveness of this medication.

Never exceed the stated dose.

The recommended starting dose of Tadalafil is 10mg taken 30 minutes before sexual activity.

Do not exceed more than 1 dose in any 24 hour period.

Does Tadalafil cause any side effects?

Yes, all medicines can cause side effects. However, not everyone will experience them. It is vital that you read the patient information leaflet before use so that you know how to recognise serious side effects or a potential allergic reaction.

Common side effects associated with taking Tadalafil include, but are not limited to:

  • Indigestion
  • Headache
  • Back pain

Can I reduce the risk of getting side effects?

Yes. Letting our doctors know about any other medicines both over the counter and prescription, you take, and also telling them about any medical conditions you have can help to reduce the risk of side effects. This information can be passed onto them in the medical questionnaire you complete when you request your prescription.

All information you provide to us is kept completely confidential, and will only be assessed by our doctors.

How do I buy Tadalafil online?

To legally and safely buy Tadalafil online you need a prescription from a GMC (General Medical Council) registered doctor. Our online doctor service allows you to request a prescription through the completion of an online medical questionnaire.

Once you have chosen your medicine and submitted the questionnaire it will be assessed by one of our doctors. If suitable, the doctor will accept your request and a private prescription will be issued. Your medicine will be dispensed by our UK pharmacy and sent by tracked delivery to your chosen address. Your medicine is usually dispatched within 24 hours of submitting your medical questionnaire.
