What is Levitra and what does it do?

Levitra is a prescription medicine used to treat erectile dysfunction, also known as impotence, in adult men. It contains the active ingredient vardenafil which belongs to a group of medicines called PDE5 inhibitors.

Levitra works by inhibiting the action of a certain enzyme known as phosphodiesterase type 5. This allows more blood to flow to the penis to enable an erection. Please note, Levitra requires sexual stimulation in order to be effective.

When is Levitra prescribed?

Levitra may be prescribed to help adult men who suffer from erectile dysfunction. Levitra may be suitable if you have made lifestyle changes in an attempt to improve the condition, but not found them effective enough.

Lifestyle changes that may help to treat erectile dysfunction include quit smoking, losing weight and increasing your physical activity. If these have not proved successful Levitra may be used to restore and improve blood flow to the penis.
