Haemorrhoids

Perinal

Perinal Cutaneous Spray, sometimes known more simply by the name Perinal, is a type of medicinal spray used to relieve the pain and inflammation caused by haemorrhoids. Haemorrhoids, sometimes known as piles, are swellings in or around the anus, caused by enlarged blood vessels. It is a very common illness which around half of people experience at some point in their lives, but there is no definite singular cause of them. They can be very painful and irritating, especially after going to the toilet. Perinal is a spray which contains two active ingredients to relieve the symptoms of piles and reduce the pain you experience from them.

If you need to use Perinal Cutaneous Spray, you can buy it online safely from a UK doctor such as Doctor-4-U by completing our simple medical questionnaire and getting a certified prescription.

Buy Perinal online

Perinal is a medicinal spray used to relieve the pain and inflammation of piles, medically known as haemorrhoids. It contains two active ingredients, hydrocortisone and lidocaine, which manage the symptoms, which can sometimes be very painful. It is a very common but easily resolved illness, and perinal will bring you comfort quickly and easily.

Is a prescription needed for Perinal?

Yes, you need a prescription from a GMC/EU certified doctor in order to buy perinal online. With Doctor-4-U’s easy consultation process, you can get a prescription for perinal safely and quickly. You will need to fill out a short medical questionnaire provided before confirming your order. If you are deemed suitable for your prescription, it will usually be dispatched within 24 hours.

How does Perinal work?

Perinal contains two active ingredients, hydrocortisone and lidocaine, which work together in a two pronged approach to relieve you of the pain of piles. The first of these, hydrocortisone, is a type of steroid medication (a corticosteroid) which helps to reduce the inflammation and itchy feeling. Lidocaine works alongside as a local anaesthetic to help manage the pain and discomfort. Local anaesthetics work by numbing the affected area for a short period of time.

Who is Perinal suitable for?

Although perinal is designed for those suffering from haemorrhoids, your medical history may mean it isn’t right for you. You should not use Perinal if:

  • You are allergic to hydrocortisone, lidocaine or any of the other ingredients listed in the patient information leaflet.
  • You are under 14 years old (unless you have advice from your doctor to use it)
  • You are pregnant or breast-feeding (unless you have advice from your doctor to use it)

Perinal should not be used on broken or infected skin, or internally (inside the anus).

It’s also important to note that haemorrhoids can be caused by certain conditions which may require urgent treatment. Tell your doctor right away if you have any of the following symptoms:

  • You have bleeding or persistent pain from your bottom (anus), especially if associated with having to go to the toilet more or less often than you have done previously
  • Your stomach is unusually swollen or bloated
  • You are losing weight

If you are taking any other medicines at the moment, then you should tell your doctor or pharmacist about these, because taking certain ones with perinal could cause interactions. It’s particularly important to mention if you are taking any of the following:

  • Any other medicines containing corticosteroids
  • Other local anaesthetics
  • Any medicines used to treat an uneven heartbeat (such as amiodarone)
  • Cimetidine or beta-blockers

Perinal side effects

Like all medications, perinal may have side effects, but not everyone gets them. Possible side effects include:

  • Mild skin reactions in the affected area, especially on the first use
  • More persistent skin reactions, which may be indicative of an allergy. Speak to your doctor if you are unsure, and stop using perinal if the discomfort is too much.
  • A slight risk of skin thinning in the treated area, caused by prolonged use of topical corticosteroids, particularly in children. This is usually reversed if treatment is stopped.

None of these side effects are considered particularly common and the odds of experiencing a severe side effect are low. Nevertheless, if you do get any severe or prolonged side effects, then stop using perinal and report this to a doctor as soon as possible.

How to use Perinal

Always follow your doctor’s guidance on using perinal, and only use the following information as a guide. It is recommended that you use perinal up to three times a day, spraying on the affected area. Continue this for up to seven days, and speak to your doctor if symptoms persist.

The spray should only be used on and around your bottom (anus). When applying a dose of this medicine, the spray should be used just once over the affected area. It may be necessary to part your buttocks while using this spray to cover the affected area properly. The spray will operate in any orientation, even upside down. Remember to replace the cap and wash your hands after use.

What if Perinal spray gets in my eyes?

If you accidentally get some perinal spray in your eyes, then it could cause irritation. Rinse the eyes with plenty of water. If rinsing one eye, take care to avoid washing product into the other eye. If irritation persists after washing, seek medical attention.

How is my order shipped to me?

When an order is ready for shipping, it is collected and delivered by either the Royal Mail or DPD depending on your preference (or possibly your location or the item you ordered). Each order is assigned a tracking number, which will be emailed to you at the time of dispatch. Your medicine will be sent in plain and discreet packaging. We do not include any branding on our packaging nor any labels which inform readers what type of product is contained within.
