What are Piriton Hay Fever Relief tablets?

Piriton allergy tablets are a type of antihistamine used to relieve the often irritating symptoms of hay fever and many other allergies including pet, dust mite, and mould spore allergies. This medication can reduce redness, swelling, itchiness, skin rashes, and general irritation associated with having an allergy. Piriton Hay Fever Relief tablets may also be used to treat insect bites and stings, nettle rash, and prickly heat.

How do Piriton allergy tablets work?

Piriton tablets work as an antihistamine. The Piriton active ingredient is chlorphenamine which is a medicine that blocks the effects of histamine. Histamine is a chemical produced by the body in response to any foreign substances. In an allergic reaction, the body responds by releasing histamine which causes swelling, redness, and itchiness, histamine is responsible for all the allergy symptoms you’re experiencing. Histamine has a very important role in the body but sometimes it can overreact to harmless substances such as dust and pollen, this is when an allergic reaction occurs.

Chlorphenamine stops the actions of histamine by stopping it from binding to its receptors.

Who is suitable to take Piriton tablets?
