How does Primolut N work?

The active ingredient in Primolut N, norethisterone, is a synthetic version of progesterone (female hormone) which is used to mimic the natural hormones and control the symptoms of period pain. Period pain occurs each month when the wall of the womb contracts and sheds the womb lining because a woman has not become pregnant and there is a drop in progesterone levels. This process can cause intense pain which varies from female to female, some women may experience pain more severely than others. Norethisterone works by almost tricking the body into preparing the womb for pregnancy instead of shedding the lining, therefore, stopping or reducing contractions which cause pain.

By mimicking the fluctuation in progesterone levels norethisterone can reduce period symptoms and can control when you will have a period by keeping progesterone at the right level to extend your menstrual cycle if you’re wanting to delay your period.

Who is suitable to take Primolut N?
