Qlaira

Qlaira is a prescription medication known as an oral contraceptive, of which there are dozens of variations. Also known as “The Pill”, oral contraceptives belong to the family of contraceptives known as hormonal contraceptives, as they manipulate the body’s hormones to prevent pregnancy. Qlaira is called a combined pill as it contains both an oestrogen and a progestogen hormone. The Pill is one of the most reliable forms of reversible protection, and doesn’t interrupt sex, making it one of the most popular types of contraception. As it alters your hormones to have its effect, there may be some side effects in the form of mood swings. However, it has the advantage that it can be stopped immediately if the side effects are too much.

Buy Qlaira online

Qlaira tablets are a type of oral contraceptive. Qlaira contains two hormones - an oestrogen hormone and a progestogen hormone - which work together to prevent pregnancy. As long as you follow the instructions for use carefully, qlaira is a highly effective form of contraception. In your blister pack, you’ll find four types of active tablet in different colours. Taken in the correct order, these have different hormone ratios to reflect the stage of your cycle.

While it’s possible to acquire contraception from the NHS, you need a prescription from a GMC/EU certified doctor in order to buy such medication online. To buy Qlaira from Doctor-4-U, simply complete our online consultation and if you are deemed suitable, we will dispatch your medication usually within 24 hours.

How does Qlaira work?

Qlaira contains two active ingredients. The first of these is estradiol valerate, a synthetic version of a naturally occurring oestrogen hormone, and the second is dienogest, a type of progestogen hormone. These work in together to stop an egg being released into the ovaries and then fertilised.

Qlaira is not designed to help protect against sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Contraception medications cannot prevent such infections from occurring if you don’t take other precautions. You should also use a condom for to ensure safer sex, and you should take an STI test every time you have a new sexual partner.

Who is Qlaira suitable for?

Qlaira is designed for women over the age of puberty and before the age of menopause who want to prevent pregnancy. Even if you are such a patient, however, your medical history may mean it isn’t right for you to take qlaira.

Avoid taking Qlaira if:

  • You are allergic to estradiol valerate, dienogest, or any of the other ingredients listed in the patient information leaflet
  • You are pregnant
  • You or your family have a history of blood clots
  • You have had angina, a heart attack or a stroke
  • You have had breast cancer, or cancer of the genital organs
  • You have bad migraines
  • You have a severe chronic liver disease
  • You have unexplained vaginal bleeding
  • You need an operation or you are off your feet for a long time
  • You have a disease which increases your risk of a clot in the arteries

If you have any other health conditions besides the ones listed above, they are worth mentioning to your doctor or local pharmacist, because while you may not be prevented from taking qlaira, precautions may prove necessary. You should also inform your doctor or local pharmacist about any medicines you are currently taking, because some can clash with the effects of qlaira.

It’s important to mention if you are taking any of the following medicines:

  • Any medicines which treat epilepsy (such as primidone or barbiturates)
  • Any medicines which treat tuberculosis (such as rifampicin)
  • Treatments or HIV and hepatitis C infections
  • Treatments for fungal infections (such as griseofulvin or ketoconazole)
  • The herbal remedy called St. John’s Wort
  • Any medicines which contain cyclosporin

Side effects of Qlaira

Like all medications, Qlaira may have side effects, but not everyone experiences them. Common side effects include:

  • Nausea and abdominal pain
  • Acne
  • Changes to your period
  • Painful breasts
  • Headaches
  • Weight gain

Taking Qlaira slightly increases your chances of getting a blood clot. Although the increase is only slight, blood clots are dangerous, so you should seek medical attention immediately if you think you may have developed a blood clot. Blood clots are more likely:

  • With increasing age
  • If you smoke
  • If you are overweight
  • If you have high blood pressure
  • If a close relative has had a heart attack or stroke at a young age
  • If you have a high level of fat in your blood
  • If you get migraines
  • If you have a problem with your heart
  • If you have diabetes

Qlaira dosage instructions

Qlaira is known as a 28-day pill, which means you take one pill per day (2 dark yellow, 5 medium red, 17 light yellow, 2 dark red, then 2 white inactive pills). When you finish the blister pack, start the following one the next day.

When you begin taking Qlaira, take the first pill on the first day of your period. Make sure you take Qlaira at a similar time of day each day. If you miss one or several of these tablets, then the best action to take will depend on the specific circumstances. The patient information leaflet contains detailed information on what to do if you miss a pill.
