Qvar Easi-Breathe

Qvar Easi-Breathe is a device prescribed to treat the symptoms of asthma. Asthma is a respiratory condition which affects the lungs and causes sensitivity in the airways, making them irritated, narrowed and inflamed. This can be life threatening for some people as breathing becomes difficult. Most people will have asthma long term and the symptoms will need to be controlled with a long term treatment plan.

Qvar Easi-Breathe is a preventer inhaler which means it prevents the symptoms coming on in the first place and avoiding an attack. It decreases the sensitivity of the airways so there’s less chance of a reaction to asthma triggers. Qvar contains beclometasone dipropionate which belongs to a group of medicines known as corticosteroids which is used everyday to reduce sensitivity of the airways a prevent an asthma flare up. Qvar is a prescription medication and should be discussed with a doctor before using.

How does it work?

Qvar works directly in the lungs to reduce inflammation and mucus production in the airways which makes it difficult to breathe. The active ingredient in this medicine works by stopping the action of certain chemicals which are released when the body is exposed to certain triggers. By stopping the hypersensitivity there is less inflammation and tightening of the airways, as well as less mucus production when the body is exposed to an asthma trigger.

Qvar Easi-Breathe needs to be used daily to prevent asthma flare ups, but it should not be used to relieve a sudden asthma attack, you should have another reliever inhaler readily available to reduce wheezing and breathlessness.

How to use Qvar Easi-Breathe

You should always follow the guidelines given by your doctor and the patient information leaflet whether you’ve used an inhaler before or not. Your doctor will prescribe a strength that suits your condition. For mild asthma you may begin on a dose of one puff twice a day and this may be increased to four puffs twice a day if asthma is condition. Before putting the mouthpiece in your mouth breathe out gently then place it in your mouth. Breathe in through your mouth slowly and deeply and press down on the inhaler to release one puff. You should then hold your breath for 10 seconds and breathe out slowly. Wait at least 1 minute between puffs if you’re dose is more than one puff.

Who is suitable to use Qvar Easi-Breathe?

Qvar is suitable for those with chronic asthma whose symptoms are severe and need to be kept under control. If you’re using your reliever inhaler frequently throughout the week, or more than twice per week you will be suitable for a preventer inhaler to reduce the symptoms and avoid an attack.
