Teveten

Teveten is a prescription medication that is used in the treatment of high blood pressure (hypertension). It contains eprosartan mesilate which belongs to a group of medicines known as angiotensin II receptor antagonists. High blood pressure or hypertension occurs when blood is pumped around the body with too much force against the blood vessels. If left untreated, high blood pressure can lead to serious health problems such as heart disease, heart attacks, and strokes. This medicine is used to lower blood pressure and prevent the complications of high blood pressure. It’s common to treat hypertension with medicine, however, this should be combined with an active, healthy lifestyle. Tevestan may be used alone or with other medicine to help lower blood pressure and ease the strain on the heart.

How does Teveten work?

To know how Teveten works we need to know how blood pressure is increased. Angiotensin II is a chemical in the body which has a number of effects on the body, one of which is causing the blood vessels to constrict. This narrowing of blood vessels makes it harder for blood to flow through which causes blood pressure to rise. Angiotensin II receptor antagonists stop this chemical from being released to prevent narrowing of the blood vessels so they can relax and widen to allow the blood to flow easily. This increases the amount of blood supply and oxygen to the heart, and lowers blood pressure.
