Vardenafil

Vardenafil belongs to a family of medicines that are prescribed for the treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED). Other similar drugs include sildenafil (Viagra), tadalafil (Cialis), and avanafil (Spedra). Vardenafil is the generic version of the branded medicine, Levitra. Vardenafil works by increasing the blood flow to your penis, allowing you to maintain an erection. The drug will only work during sexual stimulation or arousal, and does not cure ED or increase your desire for sex, but it will support a natural erection for you to engage in intercourse. You should take one vardenafil tablet between 25 and 60 minutes before you plan to have sex, with the positive effects lasting for around 4-5 hours. There are many reasons why a man may experience erectile dysfunction. It could be a result of lifestyle choices, a side effect of some medications, a result of psychological factors, or a symptom of an underlying condition. If you struggle with ED, make an appointment with your doctor to determine the cause before seeking treatment.

What is Vardenafil?

Vardenafil (generic name for Levitra) is a drug that treats erectile dysfunction. It is a PDE5 inhibitor and belongs to the same family as other erectile dysfunction medications such as sildenafil (Viagra) and tadalafil (Cialis). There are many reasons that a man might experience erectile dysfunction. It could be due to smoking, drug use, or excessive drinking. It can also be a symptom of an underlying condition, or be caused by psychological factors such as anxiety or depression. ED can also be a side effect of some medications, most commonly, antidepressants. Vardenafil won’t cure erectile dysfunction, but it can temporary treat the condition, allowing a man to maintain an erection.

How does Vardenafil work?

Vardenafil works by increasing blood flow to the penis. It does this by helping to release nitric oxide through the nerve endings during sexual stimulation, ultimately triggering muscle relaxation in the penis and allowing increased blood flow to maintain an erection. Vardenafil will only work if you’re sexually stimulated or aroused. In other words, it won’t increase your desire for sex or give you an erection is you aren’t aroused. The drug will support natural erections and allow you to sustain an erection for sex. For Levitra/vardenafil to work properly, it must be taken around 25-60 minutes before you plan to have sex, with the effects lasting around 4-5 hours, a similar amount of time to its cousin, sildenafil (Viagra). Vardenafil is usually less affected by food and alcohol than sildenafil, though, but it’s worth noting that if you take vardenafi with a meal, there’s a chance it could take longer to work.

What are the side effects of Vardenafil?

Most men won’t experience severe side effects when taking this medication, but the most commonly reported ones are:

  • Dizziness
  • Flushing
  • Gastrointestinal discomfort/indigestion
  • Headache
  • Blocked nose
  • Muscle aches

If you experience any of the above side effects and find them difficult to cope with, stop taking Vardenafil and make an appointment with a doctor to discuss either a change in dosage or switching to a different medication. If your erection lasts for longer than 4 hours, or if you experience pain with the erection, please contact a doctor immediately to avoid damage to the penis. You may be able to reduce the side effects you experience by decreasing your dose of the medication, but this should be discussed with a doctor beforehand.

Can I take Vardenafil?

Vardenafil can be used by most men, but as with most medications, there are certain groups of people that shouldn’t take it. If you have any of the below conditions, please see your GP for advice on other methods of treating erectile dysfunction. Men that shouldn’t take this medication include those who:

  • Have an active peptic ulceration (stomach ulcer)
  • have cardiovascular disease
  • have had a recent stroke
  • have low blood pressure
  • have high blood pressure
  • have had a seizure
  • have had liver problems
  • have kidney failure or other kidney problems
  • have been advised against sexual activity
    • It is also advised that you see a GP for advice if you have a deformity of the penis, for example, a pronounced curve or similar. Vardenafil can be used alongside most other medications, but you should inform a doctor of (or disclose in our patient questionnaire) any other drugs you may be taking, including herbal remedies and street drugs. For example, most ED medications can’t be used with nitrates, so if you habitually use poppers during sex, it would be an unsafe combination and could potentially cause serious problems. Vardenafil is often recommended for the treatment of ED in men with diabetes, as there is some evidence to suggest that it is the most effective medication when compared to other similar treatments.

      How do you take Vardenafil?

Vardenafil comes in two forms – either in a film-coated tablet, or as a orodispersible tablet. If you’re taking the film-coated tablet, one should be taken with water between 25 and 60 minutes before you plan to have sex. If you struggle with swallowing pills, you may choose to buy the orodispersible version of vardenafil. In this case, you should place the tablet in your mouth and let it dissolve before swallowing. If you’re using this form of vardenafil, don’t take it with water as this may hinder its effectiveness Vardenafil comes in a range of doses, with the most commonly prescribed dose being the 10mg tablet. If this is your first time using vardenafil, you’ll most likely be prescribed this dose to see how you get om with it. Most men find that 10mg is sufficient to gain and maintain an erection, but this can either be increased or decreased if you don’t get on with it. Other available doses are 2.5mg, 5mg and 20mg. You should only take one vardenafil tablet in a day. In other words, leave 24 hours between each pill to avoid overdose or severe side effects.

      Where can I get Vardenafil?

Vardenafil is available to buy online. At Doctor4U, we ask you to fill out a patient questionnaire which one of our doctors will review. Should your request be approved, you may be able to receive your order the next day depending on which delivery option you choose. The NHS will only prescribe Vardenafil to people meeting specific criteria, and it can often be cheaper to buy Levitra or its generic version online from private suppliers like ourselves. Make sure you order from a reputable source, ensuring that the website is operating legally and safely by displaying their credentials.
