What is Viagra and what does it do?

Viagra is a medicine used to help with erectile dysfunction. The active ingredient in Viagra, sildenafil, belongs to a group of medicines called PDE5 inhibitors.

Erectile dysfunction is a common condition that affects men. It is also known as impotence and causes inability to get and/or maintain erection.

When is Viagra prescribed?

Viagra may be prescribed to help men suffering from erectile dysfunction. It is a common condition that is also known as impotence. It is more common in older men, but can also affect men of younger age.

What is the recommended dosage of Viagra?

You should follow the doctor’s instructions on how to take this medicine. The doses outlined below is for your reference only. The tablets can be taken with or without food, however, the effect may be delayed if you take the tablet with a heavy meal.

Viagra doses for men

The recommended starting dose is 50 mg taken 1 hour before intercourse or sexual activity. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.

Do not exceed more than 1 dose in any 24 hour period.
